Year 6 are enjoying the Isle of Wight
A well-earned residential week for our Year 6 children this week as they head for the Isle of Wight.
Ms Quinn is keeping us up to date with their activities through the week and despite the changeable weather, they have all been playing on the beach and having a great time. Year 6 return to school on Friday, in anticipation of their special leavers' day at Henley Regatta on Sunday.
St Piran's pupils vote 'Remain'
On Wednesday we held our very own St Piran’s EU Referendum vote. Mrs Gresham organised an assembly on our membership of the EU, which gave the children in Years 3-6 the chance to vote on whether we should remain or leave. One of our parents came in to talk to Year 6 in more depth about the issue and at break time, ballot boxes were set up at “polling stations” for the children to cast their votes.
The results were as follows: 143 remain; 37 leave; 28 abstentions
We wait to see what the general public vote!
Classes raise money for charities!
Our annual Class Fair Afternoon had to take place under the cover of the Sports Hall last week due to the rain, but it didn't stop the children's enthusiasm! Each class chose to run a stall to raise money for a charity of their choice, and through games, selling ice creams, cake sales, and many other means, they raised a grand total of £1661.38! Well done to everybody involved!
We are all set for this year's Year 6 play, 'Shakespeare Rocks!' on Thursday and Friday night. The cast have been rehearsing for months, so we can't wait to see the fruits of their labours!
Classes choose charities
Weather permitting, we will be holding our annual class fair stalls outside this afternoon, when the children run stalls to raise money for their chosen charities! Games and toys and ice creams will be available on many of the stalls, as well as the fun of a non-uniform day for all!
Bollywood Ball transforms the hall!
Saturday saw our Sports Hall transformed into a beautiful Bollywood inspired interior for the St Piran's Society Summer Ball. Parents and staff joined together to dance the night away and raise money for the school and the Link Foundation via the live and silent auctions which took place on the night. A great time was had by all!
