A great end to January

Celebrating the Chinese New Year and Embracing Sustainability

January closed on a week of celebration and learning, with special events marking cultural milestones and focusing on sustainability.

To kick off the celebrations for the Lunar New Year, pupils were treated to a delicious, special menu of Chinese dishes. Year 1 children had the added joy of welcoming one of our special grandparents, who shared insights into Chinese culture.

Our Year 4 pupils visited the Science Museum in Oxford and enjoyed a day of hands-on activities, while our Preschool and Early Years children took a trip to the Maidenhead library. They delighted in the excitement of selecting books to enjoy for pleasure.

Our Eco Council has launched an exciting new initiative to combat food waste in partnership with our caterer, Thomas Franks. During their assembly on Monday, our eco councillors introduced the "Great Food Waste Challenge," encouraging their friends and staff to be more mindful of food waste at school and home. The initiative has sparked a sense of responsibility throughout the school, with everyone committing to reducing waste and making a positive environmental impact.

Looking ahead, we will welcome prospective families during our Open Morning next Friday. This is a fantastic opportunity for new families to explore our offerings and our pupils, the school’s best ambassadors, are excited to showcase all that makes St Piran’s so special.

Finally, we wish our U11 boys and girls the best of luck as they compete in the BSGA gymnastics competition this Sunday.
